Traditional
True timber construction in North America was revived in the late 70s and early 80s. The approach taken was to recreate the traditional methods and designs of earlier times, so most timber frame structures come in a range of styles including rustic lodge, reclaimed barn, English or French manor houses, or New England colonial. There are also some examples of a more ‘contemporary’ look based on a Mediterranean theme, and examples of Spanish Mission architecture in the south-west. Since timber frames are completely enclosed by their shell, the exteriors can have any architectural style and finish, and additional timber elements may be added to the exterior for dramatic effect.
Most log homes lean towards the rustic lodge look because of their very nature, but efforts to provide dramatic glass facades and clean lines also permit a more ‘contemporary’ feel. We are also able to source authentic pioneer log structures to serve as the core of your project.
